Completion of £750,000 investment at Tewkesbury Marina
TEWKESBURY MARINA ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF £750,000 MAJOR INVESTMENT IN MARINA FACILITIES
Tewkesbury Marina Limited is delighted to announce that its £750,000 investment in the revitalisation of Basin 2 on the Avon Level - including new pontoons and facilities to an international 21st Century Standard - has been completed on schedule and to plan.
Basin 2 was identified by the Marina management as being in need of refurbishment. The 30-40 year old pontoons were beginning to show their age, and a number of berths lacked electricity and water supplies.
Mark Cottrell, Chairman explains: “this £750,000 project has upgraded the facilities, with our clients benefitting from new stable pontoons and flood protected moorings along with water and electricity supply to all berths. Dredging has also been carried out to ensure the safe passage of all vessels in the basin. We are extremely pleased with the efficiency and care with which this project has been undertaken, and are grateful for the excellent service from our main contractors of fifty years – Walcon, who carried out the basin refurb in conjunction with Rolec, and Ivor King Piling Ltd, who undertook the piling at the end of the basin.”
"Thanks must also go to the Marina staff, all of whom have worked tirelessly to minimise disruption to our members, and kept the Marina operating smoothly."
Marina Manager, Simon Amos, recognises “The ongoing programme of development, maintenance and revitalisation of our Marina is of the utmost importance, and we strive to offer the highest standards of service and facilities to our berth holders. Most importantly, the feedback from our current clients has been excellent.”
“This latest phase of investment has greatly enhanced the appeal of already popular facilities. We’re now looking forward to a great 2017/18 with our growing number of berth holders here at Tewkesbury Marina”.
Berth holders at Tewkesbury Marina enjoy easy access to the beautiful cruising grounds of the River Avon, the River Severn and access to the tidal estuary. There are a wide variety of local pubs and restaurants a short walk away in Tewkesbury town centre. The newly refurbished basin will soon be overlooked by a development of eight high quality new houses.
A residential berth holder at Tewkesbury Marina for 10 years comments: “The changes are fantastic, and the work has been carried out with great care for the environment and without inconvenience to any of my fellow berth holders.”
